Chapter 5, A change int he family

So this brief chapter just has one evil thing upon another thing, Kino used to be a kind pearl diver but one thing led to another, he committed a sin, a sin his wife will forever remember. Basically Kino was reduced to desperation, significantly, everything that has been happening to him is ealted to the pearl of the world.
When Kino reached up to his wife, Juana he slapped  her, so basically he got corrupted by all the things that has been happening, "his teeth are bared. He hisses at her like a snake." Already, there is a major change occurring within Kino; he is becoming more and more like an animal —even in his treatment of Juana who, because of her upbringing, accepts such treatment. She knows that there is murder in the heart of her husband, and she accepts it without understanding it. In the same way, she knows that she needs a man; she does not know why, but she knows that Kino is a man, and she cannot live without a man.
Juana changed a lot actually,  her love for Kino is dying, she has realized that. She helplessly tries to hold on to their relationship.

The profile- Bader Al- MUDHAF

Juana was super happy for her husband Kino when he found The World’s exclusive Pearl then after a day or 3 she wanted Kino to destroy/scramble  it and get rid of it as soon as possible, because she thinks that it’s full of evil after the chain of events that occurred after its find, and by evil I mean that she thinks that it could ruin her family. Juana thinks that it’s evil because Kino has been attacked by a person and it left Kino with a bloody wound. When Kino had the pearl he went to the pearl buyer and asking for a valuable price for the pearl but the buyer shut him down with the prices. Juana is also afraid because when she wanted to take her pearl Coyotito to the doctor with Kino, the doctor refused them because they didn't have any money but when Kino found the most valuable pearl which is The  doctor and the doctor’s servant went to Kino’s and Juana’s house the day the found it and the doctor offered if he could cure their son Coyotito. That’s some if the reasons why Juana is afraid and thinks that the pearl is "pure evil ” because it can destroy their lives and causes unwanted emotions in their lives and their community.

The ugly dream

perfect sunshine
In my dream I am having the perfect day sunshine is coming through, and the sound of the church bells. Today is the day I will marry my beautiful wife. Today she will walk down the aisle into the journey of our new life. We will have a new beginning and let go of our old life, live in the town move into a bigger house. My son will go to school and learn, happiness is at its arrival. The doctor will be available, he will no longer delay. I will buy this beautiful Canoe that is stronger and better, our life will embrace.
On the other hand Juana is struggling in her dream.
While Kino is in a whole other world, Juana is in her own world too. “I look at the mirror and see a reflection of happy women.” but she feels pain inside of her the Blues are playing. Her days are full of sorrow, loneliness in this egotistical town. People don’t care about others except if they have money. She has a new life but also a spirit that is dying of misery. All of the people have their eyes on the pearl and their wealth, but no one cares about them.
Just the thought of it makes Juana feel’s choked of breath.
Kino says “Your reflection.”, placing his arm around Juana.
“ I promise you I will show it to you!” said Kino, and goes to bed.
“Good night Kino” said Juana.

“Good night dear” said Kino.

In my dark void of a dream it was blurry and blinding, I was lying on a canoe in the big blue, or should i say the dark black sea, I got up with a sudden breathtaking feeling an "ugh" moment. I did what anyone would do, paddle in the darks of the sea, I saw a bright light, I saw millions of corpses between them pearls, black pearls. Then out of fear i started moving left and right, i fell into the sea, it was deep, really deep. I as I fell deep into the depths of the sea, I see pearl divers rising up, trying to get out of the water a man, Kino bumped into me, I saw the dark void in his pupils, its as if his eyes were pearls, in his sack there was the damned pearl, the one that caused him pain in his family. He said in bubbles of sea water," get the pearl and get out, save yourself", he opened a wormhole, i was sucked into it, I woke up.

Fatima and Bader's imagination role

Kino's canoe
I Tyler, race towards Kino’s Canoe and look at him holding the huge Pearl.Thinking to myself “That thing is huge, and could cost me some real money if I had it”.  As Kino heads to the shore of the river I am behind him thinking “what if I had found it?”. I leave my canoe and head to Juana, locking her arm and pointing my gun at her head. “ If you don’t give me that pearl I will kill Juana”I screamed.  Kino was shocked and didn’t know what to do, save his wife or his child! “That pearl would save my son’s life, but my wife! What am I supposed to do?” Kino thought.
the pearl
“What do you want me to do?” shouted Kino.
“ Give me the pearl!” I said.
As Kino tries to pull his gun out of his pocket.
Pop pop pop
The sound of three shots in air.
“What are you trying to do Kino?!”  I said.
“Leave the gun or this time I will shoot your wife!” I said.
I felt a punch hit my chin, and realized that Kino had hit me. The second punch doubled me over and expelled the last bit of choked air from my beer-weighted belly. I noticed a fair amount of pain with a gutshot, which someone had fired at me, trying to defend Kino.I looked at Kino and there was a smile on his face, as I see him walk away with the pearl in his hand, and his wife by his side.

Bader's Role

While I was on the canoe with one of my best and friends looking for a jewel of the sea I heard the worst scream in decades a hellish scream, I called on to Hernan, " Hernan my friend, what in the hell was that ?", Hernan replied, "I dont no mi hermano!". It was a child i know the tune like that anywhere it was Coytito the little amigo that belonged to Kino and Juana, We steered paddled the canoe to the direction of the child's voice. We heard two other voices, I believe it's his parents Kino and Juana. We arrived at the scene. "What are you doing in the middle of the blue mi hermano?", I said. "We went to that stuck up doc to save Coytito, he did nothing."- Kino, Hernan said, " I wondered what a bunch of spics where doing amidst the blue.", "what your language my comrade!", I SAID. "go back to the damned doctor we will provide safe passage.", I said, "I thank you Mi compadre". We gave'em safe passage, and went back to our work.

A Mexican/ Indian pearl diver named Kino, He has  a wife named Juana and a son named Coyotito. He lives in a brush house and is woken up by the sound of roosters. He awakens a watches the hanging box (where is son sleeps). Also looks at his wife that is already awake, and he never saw her asleep she has always been awake. Here we get a layout of the family and of the relationship between Kino and Juana. Then he closes his eyes and listens to the sound of the ocean he calls “the family song”.  He describes it as a song of his ancestors before him, and then steps outside of his brush house to watch the sun rise.
Juana embracing tito.
Kino's family.

While he dose that Juana begins to make a fire in the pit and to grind corn for morning corncrakes. This is the begging of their daily life morning routine, and nature and his ancestors are introduced in the back ground. While he sits outside Kino watches a crowd of industrious ants and coaxes a shy dog that has wandered over to their hut,. These ants quietly working together represent his family and the town. And his wife in the background singing for their son and makes cake. This moment introduces a tone of safety, quiet and gentleness. Breakfast sounds come from neighboring huts.
Two roosters look to be about to fight, and their routine is disturbed. So he enters to eat the cake with his wife and their relationship is close that they don’t need to speak. While eating the sun light steams in their hut. Suddenly both of them freez as they look at Coyotito hanging box and notice a movement. There is a scorpion climbing slowly down the rope of the hanging box, toward Coyotito.  While nature so far has  so far a source of peace and quiet here it becomes a source of danger, in this dangerous creature. Kino begins to approach the hanging box, “the song of Evil” playing in his ears. As the scorpion moves further down the rope Juana whispers an ancient prayer. Kino reaches for the scorpion but it freeze in its place and flicks its tail.

Coyotito then laughs and shakes the hanging box’s rope, causing the scorpion to fall on him and sting his shoulder. Then from his shoulder Kino takes the scorpion and squashes it. Meanwhile Juana , tries to suck the poison out of Coyotito’s shoulder. Kino stands by, feeling helpless. From the baby Coyotito cry all of the neighbors rush into the brush house. They know that a scorpion bite could easily kill a baby. As Juana stays strong and takes authority she demands a  doctor. But the doctor never comes  to their neighborhood. Her request spreads through the neighbors. the word gets back that the doctor will not come, Juana decides that the family will go to the doctor themselves.  As Kino and Juana as they walk to and arrive at the city, replete with plaster, stone, and fancy gardens.  The difference in the economic inequality between the city and Kino’s brush-house town is illustrated.
A greedy, cruel human.

Beggars in front of the church there, who know everything about the town—the sins of its inhabitants, the bad ways of the doctor. They see Kino and Juana as poor truly highlights just how poor and powerless they must be. At the doctor’s gate, Kino hesitates, recalling that the doctor’s people had historically oppressed his own people (ancestral history of oppression weighs heavily on him.)  finally, he knocks the iron ring against the gate and reports Coyotito’s sting to the servant who opens it, speaking in the old language because the servant is of his race. The servant does not reply in the old language, and heads inside to call on the doctor.  This servant is an example of someone whose native traditions and language have been replaced by those of the colonizers.  the doctor's rich, luxurious, selfish lifestyle, he is drinking chocolate in a Parisian dressing gown in his bed  and dreams about returing to france. On the wall pictures of Religious and his dead wife. When the servant tells him about Kino, Juana and coyotiti situation he refuses to cure him while he is a doctor (whose job it is to care for people) now because of the racial difference. He refers to Kino and Juana as though they are animals and not worthy of his time and attention. The doctor asks if Kino has money so the servant returns to the gate and asks how Kino planned to pay. When Kino pulls out eight ugly, flat pearls, the servant reports that the doctor had to rush out and would not be able to see them. Then he stands for a while at the gate he punches the gate, and then looks down at his bloody knuckles in wonderment.

Steinbeck's Author of "The Pearl"

Steinbeck's Story
Life before Fame

Steinbeck a glorified author known for his outstanding storytelling in his novels and pieces, the

magnum opus of  all authors. An American above all, born on February 27, 1902, in Salinas,

California. hence all his publications and work was created in west coast California.  Steinbeck had a

pleased childhood, with his three sisters and had a happy life. it is said that he decided to be an

author at the age of 14.often locking himself in his bedroom to write poems and stories. In 1919, Steinbeck enrolled at Stanford University, a decision that had more to do with pleasing his parents than anything else.  He lived the dream of any distinguished person at his age.Over the next six years, Steinbeck drifted in and out of school, eventually dropping out for good in 1925, without a degree.
            Early Life

Following his dropout from Stanford, he tried to a "freelance photographer", moved to New York City, where he found work as a construction worker and a newspaper reporter, but then got  back to California, where he took a job as a caretaker in Lake Tahoe. It was during this time that Steinbeck wrote his first novel, Cup Of Gold(1929), and met and married his first wife, Carol Hennaing.  and for the next 10 years with his continual support from his loving wife he continued on writing wonderful adventurous stories.

Some great stories
The Pastures of Heaven (1932) and To a God Unknown (1933), received tepid reviews. It wasn't until Tortilla Flat (1935), a bodaciously funny novel about partisan life in the Monterrey region, California, was released that the writer achieved real success. Steinbeck struck a more victorious work with In Dubious Battle (1936), and The Long Valley (1938), a collection of short stories. The greatest and probably most renowned is  "Of Mice and Men" (1937).
Older years
Following the great fame he gained from his stories and novels, he served as a war correspondent for the New York Herald. during WWII.Steinbeck died of heart disease on December 20, 1968, at his home in New York City.
